Meet Malalai
Our head chef Malalai hails from Kabul.
She prepares each of the meals for ZMA food with love and authentic Afghan flavor. Here's why you can trust her meals.
30 Years At The Stove
Three decades of cooking for her own family, every single day. These dishes aren't new to her — she has made them thousands of times.
From Kabul To Windsor
Malalai hails from Kabul, Afghanistan, where she learned to cook in her own mother's kitchen. She brought those recipes with her — made the way they're made at home, not the way they're made for a menu.
Afghan Classics, Plus A Little Further Afield
Afghanistan sits where Central and South Asia meet, and so does her cooking. Alongside the classics you'll find dishes that borrow from her neighbours — the spice of the subcontinent, the rice and slow-braised meat of Central Asia.
She Sources The Meat Herself
100% zabiha halal from Ugarit Market and Halal Butcher on Wellington Ave here in Windsor. She picks it up in person. No distributors, no guessing.
She Cooks Every Batch Herself
Nothing leaves the kitchen she hasn't tasted. If it isn't good enough for her own table, it doesn't go in your box.
Thirty Years Of Recipes, Carried From Kabul
ZMA started at a family dinner table, not in a test kitchen. Every dish comes from Malalai's own mother's kitchen in Kabul, cooked the same way for thirty years and now cooked here in Windsor.
Afghanistan has always been a crossroads, and the food shows it. Slow-braised korma and saffron rice sit next to dishes with the heat and spice of South Asia. It's Afghan at heart, with the best of the region folded in — and all of it halal.
100% Zabiha Halal
Every piece of meat in every box is zabiha halal, bought from Ugarit Market and Halal Butcher at 673 Wellington Ave, Windsor, ON N9A 5J5 — one butcher, known by name, every single week.
The kitchen is halal end to end. No pork, no alcohol, no shared equipment, no cross-contamination. You never have to ask.
Made With Love, Not In Bulk
Slow-cooked in small batches. Onions browned properly, spices bloomed rather than dumped in, rice steamed the long way. Nothing frozen, nothing scooped out of a warmer. It takes longer, and you can taste it.
Generous 24 oz Portions
Family portions, not diet portions. Every meal is a full 24 oz container of curry or pulao, with enough meat that you notice. One box is dinner, not a starter.
Plenty Of Options
More than 10 dishes to choose from, meat and vegetarian both, so the whole house can order together and nobody eats the same thing twice in a week.
Just Heat, Eat & Enjoy
Every meal arrives sealed in a microwave-safe box. Heat it for 2-3 minutes and it's dinner. No cooking, no dishes, no 6pm panic.

Customer Reviews
ZMA food's meal service is easily the best among different meal services that we have tried. Discount offers are available, taste is fantastic without too much spice or salt, and the presentation is fantastic. The food is fantastic to see and even better to eat. Veg or non-veg (and the rotis) one should try it. The containers keep it fresh for days after delivery. ZMA food's is always available on phone in case of query. Easy to place order. A well-rounded package. Thank you, ZMA food's meal service.
Delivery was on time and food was delicious! The variety from week to week keeps ordering from ZMA food’s meal service fresh. Highly recommended!
Loved the food and the packaging! It has been 4 weeks since I subscribed and I get super excited for my delivery each time. Everything is delicious, with minimal oil and the right flavour. Just like home food!
10/10 service! 10/10 delivery! And of course 10/10 food, absolutely delicious!! Would definitely recommend!
Ordered from ZMA foods meal service for the first time and I was so impressed! Portion sizes and taste are better than competitors I tried like HouseCook and Halalmeals.ca. Each container was enough for two servings each! The curries were spicy and flavourful! I love that it came with rice and roti. My toddler loved the chicken palaou and the white rice. I will be recommending to all my friends and family and will order again.
This is a truly wonderful service. I knew I was going to be a long time subscriber after trying it just once. There’s always various delicious dishes on the menu so there’s never a worry about what to eat or how to cook it. The best part is even 4 days after arrival the food stays fresh and tasty in the fridge. It really loses no noticeable flavour whatsoever. I think the reason for that is the quality packaging that each delivery comes in. I seriously just do this instead of groceries and cooking and I recommend it to everyone.
It's been a month of purchasing the subscription and i can say it's really worth it. The food is delicious. I mean i get the feel of that home cooked food. Overall everything is perfect!! Keep it up team ZMA food 👍🏻

Thank you for the wonderful food service provided to my elderly parents.! They required a reduced salt diet. My requests were met with speed, accuracy and professionalism. Delivery was painless. I had been ordering ZMA food's meal service's services for my father in law and was quiet pleased and happy that he really enjoyed as I had asked them to be extremely mild to his taste. He enjoyed the Rotis and all the meals. So once again thank you so much for accommodating to his taste. Really appreciate it!!!

The portion they deliver is shockingly a lot for me. I have tried different halal meal services in toronto and this is by far the best i have had. The taste of the biryani and achari chicken is wonderful.!
